Last night Dr. James White spoke at Trinity Reformed Baptist Church and he gave two talks, one on God’s providence and the other was an explanation and refutation of Middle Knowledge (Molinism) which is apparently being advocated by none other than William Lane Craig himself.
I was there last night, and so I thought it only fitting that I make the videos available here. Many thanks to James White for coming out last night and sharing with us and for making these videos available to God’s church!

Dr White doesn’t “refute” middle knowledge. Dr. White goes after libertarian free will and ignores refutations of his attempt at the grounding objection. Dr White’s expertise is not in the field, and it shows. Not only that, but he falsely conflates Middle Knowledge with the entire system of Molinism…which in itself shows ignorance of the topic. People who watched this should take the time to research Middle Knowledge from those who have invested more time in understanding the concept. Bruce Ware’s book “God’s Greater Glory” would be a good start, and then they should check out Craig’s scholarly articles on his website. No offense intended, but this video is not a good representation of Middle Knowledge nor of a way to debunk it.
TheoReader, I completely agree. Middle Knowledge is a Biblical fact. It’s straight out of the Bible (Matthew 11:21-23 and 1 Corinthians 2:7-8).
Furthmore, those who like to suggest that Middle Knowledge does not have any place within the salvation of man have apparently never taken an honest look at Mark 13:20. It is clear that Middle Knowledge plays a role in God’s redemptive plan.
Although Dr. White is incredibly knowledgeable and has been a great help to me on various topics, he seems to be so attached to the staunch Calvinist tradition that he can’t take an honest look at this issue and distinguish between Molina, Molinism, Middle Knowledge, and William Lane Craig. The affirmation of Middle Knowledge is not incompatible with Monergism.
I agree. White should stick to discussing subjects in which he is knowledgeable. Philosophy is not one of them. He is arguing against something he obviously doesn’t understand. If he debated William Lane Craig on this subject, he would likely be humiliated.
Dr. White said that he has done extensive research on the subject and he has listened to many of Craig’s talks on the topic and read his books so when he deals with the subject he is well informed. I would love to see a debate between the two. It’s highly doubtful that he would be humiliated though.
